The Tree of Ages The Tree of Ages Series Books 1 and 2 Audible Audio Edition Sara C Roethle Julia Farmer Hollie Jackson Vulture Eye Publications Books Reviews

  • The preview is clever and gripping. Don't be fooled. It gradually degenerates into separate delusions for each character. There are no consistent rules. Relations break down. The plot cannot move in the complete chaos.

About half way, the plot becomes merely overly complex. The same things happen over and over. Finn is kidnapped so many times I lost count. Most of the characters lose their horses and belongings every time they set out. What do they keep taking them for? Never have I had such a feeling the author is making up silliness to fill pages.

The point of view changes between many characters. Many of the threads do not progress much. No thread is ever allowed to conclude. At the end of the book, if the author had stopped a few pages earlier we'd have had at least partial resolution, but no, she puts everyone back on LSD. She even changes one of the heroes into a tree, bringing the plot full circle to its beginning. I do not plan to read anything more by this author.
  • Tree of Ages starts with the unique, first-hand experience of a tree becoming a girl-- it's told so vividly, I felt like I was the tree. The story grows from there with Finn, a girl with a mysterious past which she is trying to uncover. The rogues gallery of "friends" all have a piece of Finn's puzzle, but their own goals keep her from learning it. The Melted Sea is even better than Book 1, with a rapid pace and yet more questions to be answered.
  • I enjoyed these two books in the series. Sara Roethle writes with a passion for her work that shows in her characters and plot. The first two books tell the tale of Finn in her travels to return to her previous form, then to retrieve her lost memories. She meets many people in her travels and has many adventures. I am going to move on to book three.
  • Unique characters strive to find their place and others to fulfill their destinies. Relationships are made as they make their journeys. The girl who was a tree is the main character. There are those who support her and those who wish to use her. These two books end in a cliffhanger.
  • This was an interesting read. The characters are believable, the world though a clear definition not plain, is believable as well. I was thoroughly entertained.
  • The author leads us into a believable adventure of fairy like creatures and mysteries involved in a world war. There are so many characters that I stayed confused on who was doing what! However, I stayed with the series and 'worried' about the heroine solving her problems and finding happiness. I don't know if I'll buy the complete series or really care to trudge through the forests and battles to see the conclusion. Positive for sure amazing imagination and detailed backgrounds.
  • Love the story line, could not put the book down. always wanted to know what happened to Finnur and her friends.
  • I found it fun to read, the heroine was a....? before she became human. There are many character types and twist and just enjoyable to read.
