MemoryMaking Mom Building Traditions That Breathe Life Into Your Home Jessica Smartt 9780785221227 Books Reviews
- This book is so well-written and encouraging - I wholeheartedly recommend it! You may be thinking that you don't NEED this book because you're already pretty good at making memories. Or you might be nervous to read it because you are worried you're a failure in the memory-making department. No matter where you find yourself, you will love this book!
I didn't read it and feel guilty about my parenting and a lack of traditions so far. When I finished Memory-Making Mom, I was feeling encouraged - motivated, and ready to start creating new traditions to share with my kids. I appreciate how the author not only shares the who, what, when, where, and how for making lasting traditions, but most importantly, the why. I think anyone who reads this book will take away some good practical ideas and tips, but even more a better understanding of why making memories is important.
This book is going to be my new go-to gift for expectant moms (along with the Jesus Storybook Bible). It's the kind of book that would really be beneficial to read as you prepare your heart and home for being a mother (or father too). I wish I had the chance to read this book years ago! But as the author reminds us that it's never too late to start making traditions with your family. - I WISH I'd had access to this book 10 years ago! But even though my kids are mostly grown, there are STILL ideas I'm going to use. In fact, there are SO many ideas, you can't go wrong with this book!
Jessica understands (so much!) what it's like to mother littles. She's also just a regular person like me, who wants to make memories with her kids and she's tired and overwhelmed some days and still, she's finding ways to give her children a childhood worth remembering. Also, she makes the reader feel like we can do it too!
This book will help anyone in any stage of motherhood (or GRANDmotherhood). Just one idea found within its pages might make an ENORMOUS difference to one child you love. It's an easy, quick read and worth every moment. - This book has been a wonderful blessing to our family! In it, Jessica makes the case for why building family traditions is important, then goes on to give practical suggestions we can put into practice without losing our minds. Not only has this been a handy reference book for me to look to when we need more FUN and SPECIAL and WHIMSY in our family, but it's challenged me on a deeper level to consider what kind of mom I want to be and what I want my kids to remember when they fly the coop! I would highly recommend this book to moms with kids of any age!
- I was worried when I started reading this book that it would make me feel like a failure as a mama and point out the things that I was not doing correctly, or even often enough. I was so pleasantly surprised once I got started to realize that it was not that type of book at all!
This book is full of tips and tricks on how to build traditions that will carry on for years to come. I feel more energized and enthusiastic about creating these moments so that my kids can look back fondly at the things that we have done. This book will not just be read one time, but will be read over and over as I get into that slump in my parenting. This book would be a great gift to the mom who is bored with her parenting, or just the mom who wants to add different aspects to her life. I would recommend this book to all moms! If nothing else, it gets the conversation started about what traditions you would like to have in your home. - I love to celebrate life‘s big and small moments in our family and intentionally look for ways to make them count and make them memorable.
